My friends are people who I can count on whenever I'm in dire need. No bullsh*t. We might not always get together for coffee or lunch dates or dinners but we are always together when one is in a compromising situation, so to speak. Phone calls and offers of getting together to "talk" floods and we're always grateful.
My father-in-law always says, "Hindi lahat ng naka-ngiti sa'yo, kaibigan mo" ("Not everyone who is smiling at you is your friend"). I learned that the hard way, just recently. But I'm equally thankful for the experience of getting to know who the real deal are from the frenemies.
I don't think, I KNOW I have great friends. Great friends are few and far in between and I'm grateful to have the best ones :)
